Almost 150 crews, from Juniors to Masters, race over a 5,000m course. Through the twists and turns of the lagoon, boats of all sizes compete including: eights, fours, doubles, pairs and singles. Hundreds of spectators come out to support and watch from the main boating area, the nearby bridges, and water side docks and decks.

The demographic of rowers and spectators tends to be educated and affluent. Tech savvy and innovative, the majority have access to the internet, own a personal computer and a cell phone.
