Classes

BIAC offers several adult "learn to" programs that provide opportunities to learn a variety of water sports and enjoy the waters around Bair Island and the Port of Redwood City. We also have an array of summer classes offered to current members who want to extend their skills or enjoy more summer hours.

Learn to Scull

In sculling, each rower has two oars, which allows them to row in a boat by themselves (a single) or in a boat with 2 or 4 people. Sculling is ideal for people who want to learn rowing technique and then be able to train on their own schedule.

Learn Coastal & Open Water Rowing

The “mountain biking” of rowing, open water rowing (which includes coastal rowing) requires a dash of seamanship in addition to rowing skills and fitness. Open water rowers navigate tides and currents, read the water, and surf the waves. Row in the evenings and learn to cruise around buoys in windy conditions.
